Learn to Sail at Pigeon Lake

Sailing camp at Argentia Beach Sports and Recreation Association is all about getting young people outside, learning something new, and having fun on Pigeon Lake.

Our week-long summer camps combine hands-on sailing instruction with games, challenges, water safety, knot tying, crafts, special guests, and plenty of time to enjoy the lake. Whether a sailor is stepping into a sailboat for the first time or returning to continue building their skills, our goal is to create a welcoming environment where everyone can learn, challenge themselves, and have fun.

Sailing is a sport where every day is a little different. Wind, weather, and water conditions are always changing, giving sailors opportunities to make decisions, solve problems, and adapt as they learn. With the support of our instructors, sailors build confidence and independence while developing skills they can continue using for years to come.

Why Sailing?

Learning to sail teaches more than just how to sail a boat! Sailing encourages young people to communicate and work together, take responsibility for their decisions, and keep trying when something doesn't go as planned. It combines physical activity with problem-solving and gives sailors the chance to develop balance, coordination, spatial awareness, and confidence in a hands-on environment.

Most importantly, sailing gives kids a chance to put down the screens, spend time outside, make new friends, and experience something they may not get the opportunity to try anywhere else. We hope our sailors leave camp with new skills, new friendships, and memories of summers spent on Pigeon Lake.

Something for Every Sailor

Our diverse fleet allows sailors to continue developing their skills as they become more comfortable on the water. From smaller boats designed for younger or newer sailors to boats that introduce more advanced skills such as jib trim, trapezing, spinnakers, and racing, there is always something new to learn.

Meet the Sailing Team

Our instructors and assistant instructors work together to create a safe, encouraging, and fun environment for sailors. They are there to teach, encourage, answer questions, help sailors work through challenges, and make sure everyone has a great week on the water.

Support Sailing

Our sailing program is made possible in part through the generosity of our community. Donations, boat contributions, and sponsorships help us maintain our fleet and continue providing accessible opportunities for young people to learn to sail at Pigeon Lake.
